A mere 5 months after releasing her debut LP “True Romance,” English singer-songwriter Charlotte Aitchison (better known as Charli XCX) is back with a deliciously funky new single, “SuperLove.”
For those who are not familiar with Charli, in addition to her own blossoming music career, she co-wrote and provided backing vocals for Icona Pop’s breakthrough hit, “I Love It.” With “SuperLove,” Charli serves up her most radio-ready offering yet. Over a groovy bass line, she sings about a love so intoxicating, so all-consuming, that it’s SUPER. Charli will charm you with her unique sense of humor in the verses (“I used to think that ‘The Power of Love’ was just a song, but now it’s got hold of me”), while the rapid-fire chorus will make you want to shake your butt. The slinky line I can’t get out of my head? “You’re my favorite drug…I smoke ya in the club.”
Watch Charli get down with some friends (and robots) in a neon-bright Japanese arcade in the “SuperLove” music video below. The song doesn’t hit iTunes until December 1st, so if “SuperLove” is your jam, you might want to bookmark this page. Or find one of those youtube-to-mp3 converter sites (but I would never endorse that).
