Stop the presses: it looks like Bey is FINALLY going to have some new music to go along with that overblown world tour of hers. Today, CapitalFM announced that Beyonce will be premiering a brand new song tomorrow morning at 9am EST (4/4, get it?). The message was accompanied by the above blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser vid which features that damn Sasha Fierce glove and a tiny bit of an instrumental.
Oh and did you catch that beatboxing in the background? Guess whose crusty ass decided to show up to the party? TIMBALAND. This is great, just great. I give Bey a lot of s—, but I am looking forward to her comeback and I do not want to see her serve up another “Run the World” sized clunker. Unfortunately, Timbaland’s involvement doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.
Reportedly, the Timbaland produced track is called “Grown Woman.” Check out the rumored lyrics after the jump. Continue reading
It may still be negative 30 million degrees across most of the Midwest, but the first big summer record is finally here! “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks,” Snoop’s collaboration with wild child Miley Cyrus (she smokes now!), is a breezy dancehall number with big bass and an even bigger hook paying tribute to lost love. “So raise a glass to the memories, set ’em free and fill up all those ashtrays,” Miley sings on the track’s reggae infused chorus. I’m going to have this one on repeat for a while.
Produced by Diplo’s production team Major Lazer, “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks” will appear on Snoop’s upcoming “Reincarnated” project, due out April 23rd. Stream the track via YouTube below!
Since the track list for Demi Lovato’s upcoming album “Demi” was released yesterday, fans have been scouring YouTube for demo versions of the songs that made the final cut. And so we have “In Case,” a demo co-written and performed by established singer-songwriter Priscilla Renea (Rihanna, Madonna, Chris Brown).
“In Case” is an emotional ballad about holding on to the last remnants of a failed relationship, just “in case.” Aw. The track sounds like a great fit for Demi’s voice, and an insider confirmed yesterday evening that it does in fact appear on the album. I’m looking forward to hearing Demi’s rendition! Check out “In Case” above and be sure to pre-order “Demi” on iTunes, due out May 14th!
Stop what you’re doing and listen to this.
The song. The video.
THIS is what American pop is missing! The quirk! Tovey brings the HOOKS but she’s not about drinking and partying, she’s about “sex clubs” and barfing up Twinkies! The U.S. pop scene is pretty dead right now with so many of the girls taking their sweet time to drop new music (Katy, Gaga, Beyosaurus, Miley, Demi……….Avril?), so I am getting my LIFE from these catchy Swedish bops.
I’m not sure if Tove is working on an album or what, but she’s got an official Soundcloud where you can stream a couple of songs. They’re not as good as “Habits,” but they’re definitely worth a listen.
There’s a rumor going around that Katy Perry will be featured on Icona Pop’s new single. Icona Pop’s “I Love It” is just now starting to take off in the U.S., so it would be a strange move to confuse radio with a new single so soon, especially one with Katy’s name attached to it. Does “new single” just mean a remix of “I Love It”? Or is it truly a new song? So many questions and no answers at this point, but obviously I’ll be following this rumor closely!

I was little surprised this evening to see Nickelodeon star Ariana Grande’s latest single “The Way” sitting in the number two spot on iTunes. The feel-good 90’s influenced track is a smooth listen despite a sleepy guest feature from rapper Mac Miller. It’s a lot of fun to hear Ariana do her best early Mariah impression, but honestly, it’s the nostalgia-inducing Big Pun sample that steals the show. It’s nice to see a mid-tempo R&B track near the top of the iTunes charts. It’ll be interesting to see how long Ariana can maintain her position. Check out the song below!

If this random Twitter user is to be believed, Selena Gomez’s new single “Come & Get It” is produced by Norwegian duo Stargate and written by Ester Dean. Stargate and Ester have been making hits together for a minute (Rihanna’s “Rude Boy,” “What’s My Name?,” “S&M,” “Where Have You Been,” and Katy’s “Firework”), so if this is true…
“Be Like You” embodies everything I love about Swedish pop: it’s big, it’s loud, it’s emotional – it holds nothing back. It’s actually very reminiscent of Laura Fabian’s legendary power ballad, “I Will Love Again.” I love a good chorus I can shout along to.
Linda Pritchard is a Swedish Idol and Melodifestivalen alum (the music competition that determines Sweden’s annual Eurovision entry). “Be Like You” is her first release in two years. It’s unknown whether “Be Like You” is from an upcoming studio album or if it’s just a one-off single release, but she’s definitely piqued my interest!

If “See You Again” doesn’t make you want to drive 80 miles per hour down an open country road with the wind blowing through your hair, quietly sobbing…I will eat my hat. “See You Again” is the fourth single to be lifted from Carrie’s 2012 album “Blown Away,” and it’s a sentimental country-pop record with a stadium-sized chorus and the most crossover appeal since “Before He Cheats.” Continue reading
